Bryce canyon sunset campground8/28/2023 ![]() ![]() We are all in good shape and went slow and steady while taking pics to rest and did just fine. If traveling clockwise, the last 25 min of the hike is steep. Unfortunately for us, Wall Street was washed out so we couldn’t add that hike but that was our plan. You’ve got to do both the queen and Navajo loop trails. Every turn and switchback offered something new. We’ve been on plenty of hikes, none like this. What a beautiful hike on a cool morning Sunday. After enjoying the breath taking views we started our hike around 7:40am in a clockwise direction. We parked our car at sunset point at 7:15am and there might have been 20 cars parked (Sunday morning). If you have hiking sticks they are helpful although I walked it with out them and did fine. The total distance is about 3 miles and 600 ft altitude rise. There were a number of hikers in the first section but it was never crowded and as you walked further along the trail the hikers were much more spaced out. We started on a Tuesday in early September. I heard more "wows" from people on this trail than any where else I have been. The hoodoos and difference formations are just everywhere you turn was you descent Wall Street. Ascending is more gradual if you return the Queen's Garden route. Conversely the ascend up Wall Street can be a killer if you are not ti great shape and used to the 8000 ft altitude air. But the footing is sure (packed down trail) and descends via switchbacks so if you take your time you should not have issues. The trail down Wall Street descends quickly and rangers day they get reports of a lot of ankle injuries doing this way. I would strongly recommend going down Wall Street (starting at Sunset Point) on the Navajo and coming up Queens Garden at Sunrise. To me it is a out of this world unique experience that you may not experience anywhere else. If you do just one trail in the park I would suggest doing this one. From sunset point, you can either take shuttle to go back to sunrise point to get back to your car, or walk the rim trail back to sunrise point, the trail is paved, easy to walk (it takes about half hour to walk between the sunrise and sunset point, with some photo taking during the walk). So it you don’t want your knees to be hurt so much, I suggest you start at sunrise point, then walk up to the sunset point. Although it’s more hard to walk up stairs/steep slope, but less hurt to the knees. We start the trail at sunrise point, and end up in sunset point, when we walked up to the sunset point, there should be s route, the “2 bridges” and “the wall street”, but as the road of “2 bridges” is closed at the time we went, we need to walk up the “wall street”, it’s steep and narrow, and has wall on both side, for me (have knee pains if hike long) it’s better to walk up the wall street rather than walk down, as you know walk down the slope or stairs hurt the knees much more, I am ok with the walk up, but not ok if walk too much downwards. There is no toilet along this trail, so better go restroom before the hike. In this combination loop trail, you can get 2 benchmark of “I hike the hoodoos”. People suggest to walk the trail in the early morning to avoid heat sun, we go there at about 8:30am, and finish in 2 hours, still not much sun light can reach the hoodoos, so it’s fine, but after 10am, there will be increasing number of tour groups, so I also suggest better go there earlier to avoid large crowd. the younger one, need to take his hand all the time), to avoid any accident, because there is no fence, it will be seriously hurt if you drop off from the trail). We take about 2 hours to finish the trail, we go with 2 young kids (3 & 6), for some portion, you need to take your kid’s hand (esp. ![]()
